John Lemuel Boyd

John Earl Boyd - Charles Freemont Boyd

Aaron B. (Benjamin?) Boyd - John C. Boyd

Lancaster and Chester Counties, Pennsylvania

My name is Nancy Ann Boyd, daughter of John Lemuel Boyd (born Mar. 19, 1923 in Lancaster, Lancaster Co., PA; died May 04, 1986 in Chambersburg, Franklin Co., PA) and Norma Clara Kestner Belford (born May 29, 1923 in Pittsburgh, Allegheny Co., PA; currently lives in Chambersburg, PA)  They were m. Nov. 08, 1942 in Akron, Summit Co., OH.

John Lemuel Boyd was the son of John Earl Boyd (born Oct. 08, 1894 in Parkesburg, Chester Co., PA; died Apr. 25, 1975 in Cuyahoga Falls, Summit Co., OH) and Kathleen Regina Tracy (born Nov. 27, 1896 in Columbia, Lancaster Co., PA; died Mar. 05, 1934 in Columbia, Lancaster Co., PA).  They were married May 21, 1921 in Lancaster Co., PA.

John Earl Boyd was the son of Charles Freemont Boyd (born Feb. 12, 1857 in Manyunk, Philadelphia Co.(?), PA; died Nov. 07, 1924 in Lancaster Co., PA) and Sarah Matilda Airgood (born Feb. 21, 1859 in Christiana, Lancaster Co., PA; died Sep. 26, 1936 in Lancaster Co., PA).  They were married Dec. 23, 1875 in Lancaster Co., PA.

Charles Freemont Boyd was the son of Aaron B. (Benjamin?) Boyd (born 1830 in Sadsburyville, Chester Co., PA; died Feb. 22, 1898 in Coatesville, Chester Co., PA) and Marietta Baylette (sp.)(born Nov. 18, 1833 in Maryland; died June 01, 1897 in Coatesville, Chester Co., PA)  They were married Sep. 12, 1850 in Coatesville, Chester Co., PA.

Aaron B. (Benjamin?) Boyd was the son of John C. Boyd (born 1804 in Lancaster or Chester Co., PA; died Aug. 12, 1870 in Coatesville, Chester Co., PA) and ____?____Thompson (dates of birth and death unknown)  The date of their marriage is unknown.

I know and/or can verify all information from myself back to and including John Earl Boyd, my grandfather.  All information from Charles Freemont Boyd back to and including John C. Boyd has been verified by Lillian Boyd Haines of Coatesville, Chester Co., PA.  Mrs. Haines is first cousin to my father, John Lemuel Boyd.  She has been Regent of the Chester Co. chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution.

Neither Mrs. Haines nor I have been able to trace our family beyond John C. Boyd.  Sara Matilda Airgood, my great-grandmother once told my father (John L.) that all of the Boyds in the Upper Octorara Cemetery, Chester Co. PA, were related to us.  I have been to that cemetery and there are many Boyds buried there.  Some of them lived and died in the 1700's.  Still we have not been able to establish a connection between any of those Boyds and ourselves.

If anyone has any ties to the ancestors I have listed above, please contact me.  If anyone's own ancestry is rooted in Pennsylvania (especially Lancaster and Chester Counties and possibly Berks Co.) please contact me.  Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Nancy A. Boyd (email not current)
Chambersburg, PA
