Washington BOYD: In the 1870 Darke Co. census, list his occupation as a laborer, most likely a farm laborer. Jacob W. Boyd married on the 10th. May 1868 at Webster, Ohio to Margaret Elizabeth Shaffer, daughter of Elias & Delilah (Boyd) Shafer. In the 41 years of marriage, they lived in the counties of Darke, Mercer and Paulding. The only land found that they had owned was in the towns of Payne and Osgood, Ohio. The house and lot in Payne, Ohio was traded to his sister & brother-in-law, Susannah & Elijah Shook, for the lot that they had owned in Osgood, Ohio. Jacob & Margaret E. Boyd lived out the remainder of their lives in Osgood, Darke Co. Ohio. Jacob W. Boyd died on the 1 Feb 1909 and Margaret Boyd died 25 Nov 1937, Osgood, Ohio. Both are buried at Yorkshire (Mendenhall) Cemetery, Darke Co. Ohio. Jacob Washington Boyd
& Maggie (Shaffer) Boyd The Bible of Jacob & Maggie Boyd was given to me by my Grandmother, Margaret E. (Pearson) Reck about 10 years ago (ca. 1989). The Bible was worn and with no cover. The entries made in the Bible was from my Great-great grand-father, Jacob W. Boyd. Three pages contained information that was incomplete. The pages are faded and also worn from age and from mishandling of the Bible through the years. The Bible has no forward to tell of the year it was published. It was no ordinary Bible. It was called "A Complete Analysis Of The Holy Bible". It had 1,056 pages before it came to the written information of the Boyd Family. Page 1: Family Record Births The first page is
incomplete. Written in Jacob's hand, in ink, list his name and birth. Page 2: Marriages The only marriage listed
is for Jacob & Margaret Boyd. Page 3: Deaths There were only two
entries made in this section. The first done in ink and the last in
pencil, which my grandmother said that Florence (Boyd) Geiger made this
entry in pencil with no date. Possibly years after Arthur Boyd died. 3 ii. Lewis SHAFFER, born Abt. 1854. Child of Delilah BOYD and
James EDINGER is: William Boyd of Darke Co.
