Obituary: Richard H. "Rich" Boyd, Flint, Michigan

Richard H. "Rich" BOYD - Of Flint, age 70, died Wednesday, May 15, 2002 at Bay Shores Nursing Care Center in Bay City, Michigan. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 9:30AM Saturday, May 18, 2002 at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church, 1227 East Bristol Road in Burton, Father Tim Nelson officiating. Burial in New Calvary Catholic Cemetery, with a military graveside service under the auspices of VFW Post 822 Honor Guard. Those desiring may make contributions the Alzheimer's Association. Visitation 12Noon-3PM and 5-8PM Friday at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road. Mr. Boyd was born in Athens, Alabama on October 4, 1931 and was a resident of Flint most of his life. He married Margaret Stumm on July 21, 1962 in Flint. He served in the U.S. Air Force, as a staff sergeant, during the Korean Conflict. He was a member of UAW Local 599 and Holy Redeemer Catholic Church. Mr. Boyd was employed by General Motors for 37 1/2 years, retiring in 1987. Surviving are wife, Margaret; sister, Mary Helen and husband Eddie Harris; brother, Phillip "Barry" and wife Lynn; several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his 3 sons, Stephen, Patrick and Michael; and his parents, Henry and Helen Boyd.
