EDDYVILLE, KY--Services for James R. "Jim" Boyd, 79, of Valley Falls, Kansas, formerly of Eddyville, will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Dunn's Funeral Home in Eddyville. Burial will be in Hickory Grove Cemetery in Old Eddyville. Mr. Boyd died Tuesday morning at a Topeka, Kansas hospice facility.

He was the former executive director for marketing development and
advertising for Farmland Foods in Kansas City, Mo., until he retired in
1984.

Mr. Boyd was a native of Eddyville and a 1940 graduate of Eddyville High
School. He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Valley Falls.

Surviving are his wife of 62 years, Agnes Talley Boyd; three sons, Jeff Boyd
and Jim Boyd, both of Belleville, Ill., and the Rev. Jon Boyd of Ottawa,
Kan.; nine grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by one sister. His parents were Thomas J. and
Imogene George Boyd.

Friends may call after 10 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home.

Mrs. Boyd Dies In Argonia, Kansas - Was A Native of Bath County.

Mrs Alice Hurst Boyd, 79 years old, wife of John A. Boyd, passed away at her home at Argonia, Kansas, Friday Morning, May 19, so relatives here were advised early this week.  Mrs Boyd had been in declining health for the past three years, but only since April 22 of this year had her
condition been serious.

A daughter of the late Mr and Mrs Walter Hurst, she was born in this county on East Fork in 1860.  About fifty years ago she and her family moved to the West where they have since made their home. Her husband is a brother of George W. Boyd of Owingsville. Besides her husband, she is survived by one daughter, Mrs Wallace Cook, Wichita, Kansas. Funeral services were held at the residence Sunday afternoon. Interment was in the Argonia, Kansas Cemetery.

Prominent Farmer Passes At Bethel - Funeral Held At Residence Tuesday.

Jacob Boyd, 80 years old, prominent citizen of Bethel, and widely known Bath county farmer, died at his home Sunday of a complication of diseases.  He had been in ill health for a number of years and for the past few weeks had been steadily declining. Born in Bath county August 22, 1858, he was a son of the late Richard and Narcissus Myers Boyd.  In February, 1882 at the age of 23, he was married to Miss Eliza Hendrix and to this union three children were born, two of whom survive him.  He was a life long member of the Methodist Church and took an active interest in all religious, social and political affairs.

He is survived by his wife; one daughter, Mrs Harry McCue, Sharpsburg; one son, Frank Boyd; four grandchildren, Carl Boyd, Ann McCue and Warren and Billy Rogers; one great-grandchild, Jimmie Frank Boyd; one sister, Mrs Billy McCarty, Fleming County; one brother, George Boyd, Reynoldsville; a half-brother, Tom Boyd, Winchester, and a half-sister, Mrs Manley Vice, of this county.
