Obituary of Mary A. Boyd, wife of John S. Boyd

15 May 1914, Hutsonville (IL) Herald

Mrs. Mary A. Boyd died Sunday at her home northwest of Hutsonville following a several months illness with cancer.  She was born in Hutsonville township April 4, 1837, being aged 77 years, 1 month and 6 days.  She was a daughter of the late Matthew and Anna Cox and was the last survivor of a large family of children.  Her parents were among the early pioneers of the county.  In 1858, she was married to John S. Boyd, who died in 1906.  To them were born three sons of whom only one survives, being Ellison H.  The deceased are Edward and Ross.  Mrs Boyd was a woman who was well liked by all who knew her, and she will be missed by her neighbors and friends.  Funeral services were conducted Monday at the home of Rev. T. C. Bailiff and the body was interred in the Hutsonville cemetery.  A large concourse of relatives and friends were in attendance.
