Benjamin Boyd ~ Anna Brady Boyd

 


Benjamin BOYD born in December, 1823 either in Scotland or Ireland.  He emigrated, I believe, from Belfast, Ireland aboard the ship "Scotia," arriving in New York harbor 13 Dec 1848.  He married Anna BRADY, probably in 1849.  She was born 20 April 1827 in Ireland. From 1850 to 1866 they lived in Conshohocken, Montgomery County, PA. They then moved to Livingston County, IL where they remained until sometime in the 1870s, when they moved to Sheldon Twp, Iroquois County, IL.  Sometime around 1885 they moved to Buffalo County, NE, where Benjamin died 20 April 1892.  Anna died 16 April 1907.  Benjamin Boyd's occupation was listed on "Scotia's" manifest, and the 1860 PA census as "weaver" or "coat-maker'. In later census reports he is listed as "farmer".  They had ten children:

 

(1) Benjamin BOYD Jr. 1850-1895 m. Clara _______?    They had at least 8 children: Benjamin O. BOYD , Charles BOYD, George BOYD, Thomas A. BOYD, Horace BOYD, Sadie BOYD, Hugh BOYD, and Clara BOYD.  He died in Pontiac, IL.

 

(2) Mary BOYD 1852-1930 m. John HARRIS in 1870.  They had 6 children: John HARRIS, Ben HARRIS, Harry HARRIS, Nettie HARRIS, Arthur HARRIS and Clarence HARRIS She died in Pontiac, IL.

 

(3) Alexander BOYD 1854-1932 m. (1st) Mattie? (1854-1898) 5 children, all died in childhood, and m. 2nd.  Sarah DUNN with whom he had 5 children: Joseph BOYD, Cassie BOYD, Walter BOYD, Sadie BOYD, and Ann BOYD.  He died in Pontiac, IL

 

(4) Elizabeth BOYD b. 1856-? m. ?  HUGHES.  She died in Pontiac, IL. 

 

(5) James BOYD b. 1858 m. Florence ARMSTRONG in 1883.  They had 3 children: Ethyl BOYD, Ford BOYD, and Paul BOYD. He died in Pontiac, IL. 

 

(6) William BOYD b. 1860-? lived in Gallup, NM, CA, and Pontiac, IL.

 

(7) Thomas Joseph BOYD b. 1863 m. (1) Effie HARBROUGH, 3 children: Gladys BOYD, Jenny BOYD and Alice BOYD, (2) Ella CISCO and had 2 children: Frank BOYD and Doris BOYD. 

 

(8) Anna BOYD b.1865 m. (1) HARKRIDER and (2)   BURNISON. She lived in Hoopeston, IL.

 

 (9) Sarah BOYD 1868-1887, died in Nebraska.  (10) John BOYD 1871 m.

Peniede ?  and had 3 children: Jesse M. BOYD,  Fredie B. BOYD, and Goldie K. BOYD.
