FIRST GENERATION    (index at bottom of page)

1.  Elijah BOYD was born 1794 (?).  Question on spelling of last name;  Boyd/Boyt/Bout

Two other children are listed in LDS as being born in Burke Co, GA:
  Jacob Boyd
  Elraha Boyd

This info has not been confirmed by any other record.

  Elijah BOYD and Patience UNKNOWN had the following children:

 +2 i. James E. BOYD.
 3 ii. Benjamin BOYD was born in 1831.
 4 iii. Mary BOYD was born in 1833.
 5 iv. John BOYD was born in 1835.
 6 v. Abraham BOYD was born in 1837.
 7 vi. William BOYD was born in 1840.
 8 vii. Sarah BOYD was born in 1841.
 9 viii. Henry BOYD was born in 1845.
 10 ix. Hamilton BOYD was born in 1845.

SECOND GENERATION

2.  James E. BOYD was born on 25 Sep 1825.  He died on 21 Oct 1899.  He was buried in Stillmore, GA.  James' last name could have been recorded as "Boyt" and/or "Bout".
Boyt: Marriage Book B: Page 129: 1856-1879.
Bout: Marriage Book B: Page 144: 1856-1879.

James was a Confederate Soldier: Co. C. 38th Reg. Ga. Vol. Inf., The Ben Hill Guards.
He entered service on October 1, 1861.
He was wounded at the First Battle of Cold Harbor, VA on June 27, 1862 at the Gaines' Mill Battle (another name for the battle).
He was captured at the Battle of Cedar Creek, VA on October 19, 1864.
He was paroled at Point Lookout, MD and transferred to Aiken's Landing, VA
for exchange on March 28, 1865.

Both he and Lucretia are buried at the Cool Springs Baptist Church
Cemetery in  Aline, GA.
 

He was married to Lucretia COLLINS EDENFIELD (daughter of David Keen COLLINS and Mariah JAMIMA) on 6 Feb 1866.  Lucretia COLLINS EDENFIELD1 was born on 15 Mar 1835.  She died on 18 Nov 1894.  She was buried in Stillmore, GA.  Lucretia was Lucretia COLLINS prior to marrying Richard EDENFIELD.
They had one daughter: Cassandra (Cassie) Ann Americus EDENFIELD.

Richard EDENFIELD died in 1863, probably in the Civil War.
  James E. BOYD and Lucretia COLLINS EDENFIELD had the following children:

THIRD GENERATION

11.  Jeraldine BOYD was born in Stillmore, GA.  Story:
Joe (Unknown) had a pistol in hand and was heading for George.
George told him to go back several times but Joe did not stop advancing.
George finally shot him in self defense.

George Kersey, was Mrs. Boyd's brother (wife of Twiggs Pughley Boyd).

Twiggs Pughley sat on jury for George Kersey killing Joe.
  George found not guilty.
  Joe had been trying to kill George for a couple of years.
 
After the shooting, Jeraldine went down, got the George's pistol, put it in her apron and went back home.

Jeraldine lived in Cobbtown, Tattnall Co.
  Sons:  Homer Linder, Kurtes Linder, Clanton Linder.

G. Kersey later regretted shooting Joe and he shot himself.

Joe and Jeraldine lived in a big house on a hill.
George lived in a small house down the hill from them.
 

12.  W. Rudolphus BOYD2 died in 1848.  Date of death is 1848??  He was born in 1865 in Stillmore, GA.  He was buried in Stillmore, GA.

He was married to Elizabeth "Lizzie" OLIVER on 8 Sep 1898.

He was married to Mrs. S. Florence WHEELER on 3 Nov 1934.

13.  Nathan David BOYD3 was born on 25 Sep 1868 in Stillmore, GA.  He died on 5 Aug 1934 in Stillmore, GA.  First marriage to Laura Edenfield of Emanuel Co, the daughter of John and Narcissa A. Canady Edenfield, of Emanuel Co, took place 3 January 1897 in Emanuel Co., GA.
She was born 21 June 1872 and died 9 May 1904.

Laura is buried in the Edenfield Cemetery located on a dirt road to the right of Road 192 between Swainsboro and Stillmore, GA.
 

Anna GRIFFIN was born on 8 Oct 1885.  She died on 5 Mar 1967.  She was buried in Collins, Tattnall, GA.  Nathan David BOYD and Anna GRIFFIN had the following children:

 +15 i. Thelma BOYD.
 +16 ii. Jewett BOYD.

He was married to Laura EDENFIELD (daughter of John EDENFIELD and Narcissa A. Canada EDENFIELD) on 3 Jan 1897.  Laura EDENFIELD was born on 21 Jun 1872.  She died on 9 May 1904.  She was buried in Edenfield Cemetery. Dirt road between Rd 192 and Swainsboro and Stillmore, GA.  Laura is buried in the Edenfield Cemetery located on a dirt road to the
right of road 192 between Swainsboro and Stillmore, GA.
Nathan David BOYD and Laura EDENFIELD had the following children:

 +17 i. Clara D. BOYD.
 +18 ii. James Rufus BOYD.

14.  Twiggs Pughley BOYD was born on 6 Jan 1876 in Stillmore, GA.  He died on 6 Aug 1959 in Collins, GA.  Died of Heart Attack.

  He was buried in Cedar Creel Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery, Collins, GA.

He was married to Melvina  Oliver KERSEY (daughter of Jake OLIVER and Margaret SAPP) about 1900.  Melvina  Oliver KERSEY was born on 3 Mar 1871.  She died on 6 Feb 1930 in Collins, GA.  Died of Cancer.  She was buried in Collins, GA.  Twiggs Pughley BOYD and Melvina  Oliver KERSEY had the following children:

 +19 i. Edgar BOYD.
 +20 ii. Elton BOYD.
 +21 iii. Otis BOYD.
 +22 iv. Lula BOYD.
 +23 v. Jewell BOYD.

Martha Verona (Pink) ANDERSON (daughter of Simon Peter ANDERSON and Josephine Magdalene WILLIAMS) was born on 24 Jan 1893 in Tattnall County, GA.  She died in 1988.  Twiggs and Martha did not have any children.  She had several from a previous marriage.

FOURTH GENERATION

15.  Thelma BOYD.  Thelma was a teacher in Tattnall County for over 40 years.

  Thelma BOYD and Clyde GLISSON had the following children:

 +24 i. Mary Jean GLISSON.

16.  Jewett BOYD.

She was married to Elton COLLINS.  Jewett BOYD and Elton COLLINS had the following children:

 25 i. Lenord Elton COLLINS.  1998:  Lenord lives in Saannah, GA

17.  Clara D. BOYD was born on 4 Nov 1902 in Stillmore, GA.  She died on 3 Jul 1958 in Blythwood, Richland, SC.  She was buried in Blythwood, Richland, SC.

She was married to Vallard D. MOSELEY on 8 Jul 1918.

18.  James Rufus BOYD was born on 16 Sep 1900 in Stillmore, GA.  He died on 13 Jul 1947 in Fairfield City, SC.  He was buried in Fairfield City, SC.

He was married to Ethel V. HOOVER on 7 Apr 1928.

19.  Edgar BOYD was born on 4 Jan 1903 in Collins, GA.  He died on 9 Jul 1970 in Savannah, GA.  Died of Heart Attack.

Jeannette WILSON was born on 26 Sep 1912.  She died on 3 Apr 1986.  Died of Alzimers.  Edgar BOYD and Jeannette WILSON had the following children:

 +26 i. Eugene BOYD.
 +27 ii. Lois BOYD.
 +28 iii. Howard BOYD.

20.  Elton BOYD was born on 7 Aug 1906 in Stillmore, GA.  He died on 19 Dec 1992 in Laurel, MD.  Died of Parkinson and Liver problems.  He was buried on 21 Dec 1992 in Cedar Creek Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery, Collins, GA.  Marriage note:  Married 6 July 1925

Worked for the Savannah Transit Authority as a street car driver/bus driver/dispatcher.
He was president of the first union formed for the drivers.

During WW2, he trained and qualifed as a welder.

Developed Parkinson's disease in late 1980's.

James Edward BOYD and his wife Virginia took both Elton and his wife Vie to Ellicott City in July 1990.

Elton was placed in the Golden Oaks nursing home in Laurel MD in Sep 1990 after two visits to the hospital for falling.

He was married to Vie COLLINS (daughter of William Berrian COLLINS and Mary Susannah WRENN) on 6 Jul 1925 in Collins, GA.  Vie COLLINS was born on 5 Sep 1906 in Collins, GA.  She died on 18 Dec 1998 in Ellicott City, MD.  She was buried on 29 Dec 1998 in Collins, Tattnall, GA.  Vie COLLINS BOYD died 18 Dec 1998.  One day shy of when her husband, Elton, who died on 19 Dec 1992.  She died in the  home (4642 Live Oak Court, Ellicott City, MD  21043) of her son and daughter-in-law about 5PM

She died of a result of a series of heart attacks.  Three in all.  She commented before the 3rd one that the 3rd one would take her home to be with Jesus, Elton. and Lois. After breaking her left thigh bone in July 1998, she really never completely recovered.  She went to rehab at St. Agnes Rehab Ctr for 12 days then to the Nursing home for a couple months for treatment before coming back home.

She wanted to go heaven and be with Jesus and her husband and child (Lois) and was more than ready to go.

She is buried at the Cedar Creek Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery in Collins, GA  Elton BOYD and Vie COLLINS had the following children:

 +29 i. James Edward BOYD.
 30 ii. Lois BOYD was born on 24 Mar 1928 in Savannah, GA.  She died on 19 Apr 1928 in Savannah, GA.  Died of Water on the Brain.  She was buried in Collins, GA.  Lois is buried in the cemetery at Cedar Creek Primitive Baptist Church.

21.  Otis BOYD was born on 9 Jan 1911 in Collins, GA.  He died on 24 Jun 1996 in Savannah, GA.  He was buried on 27 Jun 1996 in Collins, GA.  Buried at Anderson PB church cemetery

He was married to Edrice CALLOWAY on 23 Feb 1932.  Edrice CALLOWAY was born on 11 Sep 1915 in Collins, GA.  Otis BOYD and Edrice CALLOWAY had the following children:

 +31 i. Evelyn BOYD.
 +32 ii. Joyce Laverne BOYD.
 +33 iii. Otis Clarence BOYD.

22.  Lula BOYD died in Reidsville, GA.  Died of cancer.

  Lula BOYD and Ned WOODS had the following children:

 34 i. Frank WOODS.
 +35 ii. Fred WOODS.
 36 iii. Bernice WOODS.

23.  Jewell BOYD was born on 3 Mar 1916 in Collins, GA.  She died on 20 Aug 1989 in Collins, GA.  Died of Heart Attack.

Willy H. SIKES died.  Died of Heart Attack.  Jewell BOYD and Willy H. SIKES had the following children:

 +37 i. Charles SIKES.
 +38 ii. Robert SIKES.

FIFTH GENERATION

24.  Mary Jean GLISSON.  Mary Jean was the natural child of Clyde's sister.  Clyde and Thelma adopted her.
 

She was married to John F. MOSLEY on 5 Jun 1966.  Mary Jean GLISSON and John F. MOSLEY had the following children:

 39 i. Duane Scott MOSLEY.
 40 ii. Tara Stacy MOSLEY.
 41 iii. Sean Ryon MOSLEY.

26.  Eugene BOYD died on 22 Sep 1994.  Shot himself

27.  Lois BOYD.

28.  Howard BOYD.

  Howard BOYD and Corrie STRICKLAND had the following children:

 42 i. Laura Kristen BOYD was born on 20 Aug 1965.
 43 ii. Elizabeth Ashley BOYD was born on 30 May 1978.

29.  James Edward BOYD was born on 26 Feb 1927 in Collins, GA.  Graduated from Savannah High School in Feb 1945.

Joined United States Navy in Feb 1945.
Honorably Discharged on Dec 19, 1947.
Went to USN Radio School in Indianapolis, IN
Served on these ships:
  Escort Carrier:      USS Siboney CVE 112 as Radioman striker S1/c
  Escort Carrier:      USS Badoeng Strait  CVE 116 as Radioman striker S1/c
  Carrier:                USS Shangri-La CV 38 as RM3/c
   Participated in Operation Crossroads  (atom bomb expolsions in the Pacific)
  Seaplane Tender: USS Currituck AV 7 as Radioman, RM3/c
   Participated in Operation High Jump, Anartica Expedition
  Carrier:                USS Kearsarge CV 33 as Radioman, RM3/c

Married Virginia Oleta Watson in Little Rock, AR on 25 June 1950

Graduated from Milwaukee School of Engineering, College of Electrical Engineering in March 1951 with a BS in Electrical Engineering.

Earned Private Pilot license on 26 May 1982 at Frederick, MD

Retired from Westinghouse Electric Corp., Baltimore, MD,  on 1 April 1989.

He was married to Virginia Oleta WATSON (daughter of Thomas Asbury WATSON and Selina Eugenia PATTERSON) on 25 Jun 1950 in Little Rock, AR.  Virginia Oleta WATSON was born on 9 Jan 1925 in Plainview, AR.  James Edward BOYD and Virginia Oleta WATSON had the following children:

 +44 i. Dianne Kathleen BOYD.
 +45 ii. Marcia Karen BOYD.

31.  Evelyn BOYD was born on 21 Nov 1932 in Collins, GA.

She was married to James W. HALL on 10 Oct 1950.

32.  Joyce Laverne BOYD was born on 26 Jan 1943 in Savannah, GA.

She was married to Jimmy C. HUMPHRY on 12 Jan 1962.

33.  Otis Clarence BOYD was born on 10 Oct 1934 in Collins, GA.

He was married to Dorothy DOOLEY on 21 Jun 1958.
