Archibald Boyd / Jane Boyd Family

of Newberry Co; SC


1-A   Archibald Boyd--a native of Ireland--born 1758--died 4 Dec.1802--buried Prosperity cemetery, Prosperity, SC. Married : Jane Boyd who came to SC in 1772 as the wife of Samuel Fair--after his death she married Archibald Boyd whom she also survived and died Nov. 1807, buried in Prosperity cemetery, Prosperity, SC.

2-A  Archibald (Archie) Boyd, Jr b. 1780 d.20 Aug 1816, Newberry Co., SC.; m. Esther Young,  b. 28 Oct. 1787, d.  4 April 1838. After Archibald Jr.'s death, Esther married James William Karr and they migrated to Fayette Co., TN, settling in Hickory Withe.

3-a James Boyd b. Newberry SC.; d. 9 Aug. 1825- unmarried

3-b Eliza Boyd  b. 19 Feb. 1809, Newberry Co. SC. ; d. 7 May 1877, buried Mt. Pleasant Cemetery, Hickory Withe, TN. Married George Thompson b. 23 Oct. 1805; d. 30 Apr. 1874. They had 9 children.

3-c. Sarah Boyd b. 21 Sept. 1810, Newberry Co., SC; d. 18 July 1887 in Hickory Withe, TN; m.(1) when 16 yrs. old to Nathan Young. He died 1831. She moved to TN 1833; m (2) Jacob Maddox Webb (was wed to him 50 yrs., 8 mos.)

3-d, Mary (Polly) Boyd--b. about 1811, Newberry District, SC ; d. 9 Nov 1876, Hickory Withe, TN; m. 1829 Jacob H Young, b. 22 Aug. 1807; d. 28 Sept. 1883. Both buried Mt. Pleasant Cemetery, Hickory Withe, TN.

3-e. Alfred Boyd (M.D.)- b 7 Dec. 1813, Newberry District, SC.; d. 21 Sept. 1882, Troy, AL (was a Mason); m. Caroline Ann Jones, b. 1818 in SC 25 Dec. 1834. She died 23 July 1892 and is buried in Pike Co. AL. He went to TN 2 Nov. 1835 and moved to AL 1837. Their 11 children are listed in THE BOYD FAMILY HISTORY  by Catherine Boyd Johnson.
