"The remains of A.K. Obituary of August 30, 1913

"DEATH OF MRS. A.K. BOYD, OLD RESIDENT OF PINGREE, ND

Mrs. Elizabeth Boyd Passed Away At Her Home In Pingree This Morning

The death of Mrs. Elizabeth Boyd, wife of A.K. Boyd of Pingree, and a well known resident of Stutsman county, occurred at 4 a.m. today, due to ailments caused by advanced old age.  Deceased, who was 82 years old, had been ill for about six months.

Mrs. Boyd came to Stutsman county about 16 years ago and has resided at
Pingree ever since, forming many acquaintances and friends in that vicinity. She is survived by her husband, one daughter, Mrs. S. B. Head, Fairmount, Minn.;  and six sons, Oscar and Charles Boyd of Pingree; Melville, Winnipeg; Dempster, Campbell, Minn.; John, Alberta, Can.; and Ed, of Marmarth, N.D.

A cemetery index (1977) for Rest Cemetery, Stutsman county shows the

More about Asa K. Boyd:

I just received a long letter from a Boyd cousin in Alberta.  He's done some research into my Boyd lines, added one more generation to what I knew.  We are hoping someone might be able to help with the questions.  The quotes come from my cousin Jack's letter:

"Robert Boyd held title to land where John Parke Boyd (US Army commander in
1812) had spent several years exploring leads us to think they could have been related."

Does anyone have information on John Parke Boyd's descendants/siblings?

"Robert Boyd settled in Madison, Indiana and became a farmer.  He had nine children - 4 girls, 5 boys.  Robert Boyd acquired land (about 70 acres) just north of the Ohio River at Madison. (From will) Also thirty four acres Sec 9, T 20, R12.  Also thirty five acres in Jefferson County, Indiana it being the NE 1/4 of the NW quarter of Sec No.9, in TWP 4 North of Range No.9... In total 69 acres.

Robert Boyd held title to this 80 acres just north and west of the present Danville, Illinois, but we have no information on how he aquired the property.  It is possible that he bought it from a brother (John Parke) or he may have inherited it on his brother's death.  On his death (1846) Robert willed the approx. 70 acres of land in Indiana and 80 acres in Illinois to his three eldest sons.  They were John, Joseph and Asa K."

The members of the family listed in the will, starting with the males (and likely the oldest first) John, Joseph, Asa K. (we believe this to be my 3rd g.grandfather), Robert, Alexander Wilson Polly (Jones), Matilda (Sullivan), Aremathea (Licklyter), Arnaline (Terrill)

I'm also trying to find information on my 2nd great grandfather:

Charles BOYD born 10 Feb. 1868 location unknown / died 6 July 1941  Swift
Current, Sask., Canada + Jessie Grace HOMER born 23 June 1881 / married 23 June 1899 at Pingree, N. Dakota, USA   (witnesses-J.W. BOYD, Loula M. Plowe    Pastor: Louis B. Hardy Bap. Church, Jamestown, N.Dakota)   Jessie died Nov. 1922 in Meyronne, Sask. Canada

Further info on their descendants can be found at my web site listed below.

If anyone has Charles BOYD/Jessie Grace HOMER in their family tree, please
contact me.  Thank you.
