James Boyd Ballgaston, Co Antrim to Bridgton, NJ Another settlement of Boyds in Ireland was at Ballgaston in the County of Antrim. One of the progenitors of this family was James Boyd, who was born here in 1735, and came a few years afterwards to Bridgton, New Jersey. He died here on December 12, 1775 and from him descended some of the most prominent families of the State. He is said to have been a linen merchant while residing in Ireland.
