Will of William Boyd

Dominica, West Indies

William Boyd who died in 1830 who was married to Ann (last name unknown) and was my 3rd grandfather (I am actually the descendant of William Boyd  and his mistress, Mary Lockhart!!). William had brothers Hugh, John, Samuel, David and Morris. I have a copy of the last will and testament of William Boyd (see below). I also have copies of the wills of William's son James Boyd (1825-1882) and Mary Lockhart.  Below is William's will transcribed.  (question marks indicate illegible text).

"This is the last will and testament of me, William Boyd of the Island of Dominica merchant, and I do hereby revoke all wills or codicils by me heretofore made.  On my decease I wish to have a plain but respectable funeral.  I wish my corpse to be carried to a place of interment by four artillery men from the fort for which I desire each of them to be paid two dollars.  And it is my will and desire that as speedily as possible after my decease my outstanding debts be collected in and that as much of my stock in trade as may be required be disposed of to the best advantage for the purpose of paying off my creditors in London.  And I wish all other just and lawful debts that I may owe to be satisfied and adjusted.  I give and bequeath unto my wife Ann Boyd all the rest and residue of my estate both real and personal and.....to her own proper use benefit and behoof forever upon trust that she, the said Ann Boyd do pay or cause to be paid to my five brothers and (?) or that at her decease her heirs and executors do pay or cause to be paid to my said brothers who are now residing in Europe, the sum of thirty pounds sterling each (?) Hugh Boyd, John Boyd, (?) Boyd, Samuel Boyd, and David Boyd.  And I hereby do nominate  and appoint my foresaid wife Ann Boyd, Matthew Patterson and George U. Atwood executrix and executor of this my last will and testament and I beg each of my executors will accept ten pounds to purchase each of them a ring.  Inf (?) I the said William Boyd have hereunto set my hand and seal this first day of February one thousand eight hundred and twenty-nine.
