John
Boyd / Jane Barclay
Aberdeen,
Scotland
My Great Grandmother had in her possession a very old, hand written family tree together with the myths and legends that had grown up over the years. She would tell us all about the 4th Earl and his wife and bits about her own grandmother, but as so
often happens, being very young at the time, I didn't think to ask about the
people in between.
Our history tells us that 'our' William Boyd married Louisa Erskine, daughter of the Earl of Kellie. I have searched the OPR of Fowlis and have found that Alexander, Earl of Kellie, married Louisa Moray in 1726. She died in 1729 and it is possible that they could have had a daughter Louisa. To date I have found no record of the birth...............
Louisa is supposed to have married William in 1752 and to have had a son William in 1753. He married Margaret Riach in 1776
and died three years later as a result of a riding accident. However, that William and
Margaret had a son William in 1777 who married Dorothea Smith in the
early 1800's.
Their son John married Jean Barclay of Towie in 1828 and had three children: Andrew Forbes Boyd, Margaret Thompson Boyd and Jane Robina Anne Boyd. We are descended from Margaret
Thompson Boyd.

Searches for the others is unclear.
At the top of her tree, the "Louisa Moray" is listed in a Pedigree
Resource File from the Medieval Families Unit at Salt Lake City, as the daughter of William Moray of
Abercairny, Perthshire, Scotland, marrying Alexander Erskine (Kellie, Carnbee, Fifeshire, SCT) in 1726. I have reason to believe that these were Earls of
Mar & Kellie.
