The Australian Governments' National Archives have provided war service
records on the web at www.naa.gov.au.
Under "Research" click through "service records" and then "WW1", then
click on "name search". In the text box type the name you are looking
for (I put in Boyd of course) and select the period of interest in the box
below the name, then hit "search". You can then browse the names
returned for any of interest, and you can view some of the records
online. Thanks to Steve Boyd:  boyds "at" ains.net.au
